What are SEN adviser training courses?
SEN training courses are aimed at those working with children and young people with special educational needs or requirements.
Arts Award adviser training is an important first step in engaging children and young people in arts and leadership activities through our awards and we have delivered Bronze and Silver adviser training for people working with young people with special education needs for a number of years.
Following a review and feedback from our adviser community we have now extended this to include the Discover and Explore levels. Arts Award Discover & Explore and Bronze & Silver SEN focus training is now available in Manchester, Birmingham and London and provides specific advice, guidance and support on how young people with special educational needs can work towards and evidence their Arts Award journey.
Advisers who attend a SEN training course gain exactly the same status as they would on any other adviser training course of the same levels and does not mean the adviser can work only with young people with learning difficulties.
How are SEN training courses different?
The trainer running the course will focus specifically on delivering Arts Award in SEN settings. Examples and case studies are drawn from projects and settings working with or involving young people with learning difficulties or other educational needs. The trainers have wide ranging experience and knowledge of working in SEN settings, and are able to provide examples, suggestions and approaches to accessible evidencing formats and techniques.
Which training courses are available with SEN focus?
SEN training courses are currently taking place in London, Birmingham and Manchester only.
