Do your Arts Award

Whatever art form you’re interested in, whatever your ability, Arts Award fits you and allows you to achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

You can do an Arts Award in any area of the arts from fashion to poetry, rapping to dancing, sculpture to film, games design to DJing. You can be an artist or performer, or develop your skills in essential roles like marketing or stage management. It's creative, flexible and valuable - and offered at five levels.

Hear from young people talking about their Arts Award experiences in this short film:

How do I get an Arts Award?

  • take part in different arts activities
  • be inspired by artists and arts organisations
  • experience arts events
  • share your arts skills with others
  • put together a portfolio or arts log in your own choice of format

And for Silver and Gold you'll also get to:

  • set yourself arts challenges
  • organise your own projects
  • research arts careers and the arts sector

Learn more more about what's involved with Arts Award and the levels available on our magazine for young people Arts Award Voice. You can also find out what other young people did, see portfolios and get ideas - as well as access to support from Arts Award Voice when you're ready to start your award.

What's next?

You need to work with a trained Arts Award adviser who acts as your mentor and helps you plan your project and develop your skills to achieve the Arts Award qualification.

First of all, find out if your school, college, local arts project or youth club already runs the award.

If not, check the Arts Award centre map to find organisations offering the award near you.

Some are open centres, which means they welcome new people contacting them, whilst others are closed except to the young people who are already attending.

If you've tried to find a centre near you without any luck, why not approach someone in your school, college, youth group or arts centre to see if they could run Arts Award.  If you have any questions or would like to contact us, please see our help centre
