What happens on the day of the moderation?

Once all centres have confirmed names, Trinity will issue a timetable for the moderation day. Each centre is allocated their own moderation timeslot and should plan to arrive at least 15 minutes prior to their start time to allow for set-up of their portfolios. Please note, unless otherwise specified, the host centre is moderated first at their preferred start time. Guest centre/s will be moderated consecutively following a short break.

The moderator will look through a sample of the portfolios, meet with 25% of the young people from each centre (up to a max. 10, or 15 for groups of 80+), and then speak with and deliver feedback to the adviser(s).

Any guest centres who require specific equipment or internet access for their moderation should contact the host centre to check if this is available at the venue. Contact information can be found on the moderation timetable.

How much does it cost?

Each individual centre booked on to a joint moderation will be liable to pay a minimum centre fee of £150. The combined moderation fees of all centres booked onto the moderation must also meet the minimum moderation fee of £490.

Should the combined fees not meet the minimum moderation fee, the difference will be split equally between all centres and you will receive an additional invoice for your share. Please note that top-up invoices will not be issued until the deadline to add/substitute names has passed, as this avoids the need to issue multiple invoices/corrections.

Find out more about meeting minimum fees and per-head costs by level.

How do I book?

First, view the joint moderation dates currently being advertised to find the date you would like to book onto. This list is updated as bookings are made and all bookings close one month prior to the moderation date (or earlier if the date becomes fully booked).

You can request a place on an advertised date if it is still open for booking on the website. If the date you'd prefer is closed, please email moderation.team@trinitycollege.co.uk with the numbers/levels of your group to see whether it is possible to make a late booking. All requests for open dates must be completed online via the adviser portal.

A joint moderation can be requested for any number of young people, however Trinity may not be able accomodate large or complex cohorts due to timing restrictions. Please note that if you are moderating large numbers there will be no financial benefit to you in booking onto a joint moderation. A standard moderation may be a more suitable option.

Before booking a moderation you should ensure all advisers entering young people are linked to the centre. Find out more about registering or linking to an Arts Award centre

What happens next?

Arts Award will send you a booking confirmation email within 3 working days after receiving the request. This email will be sent to the person selected as the booking contact. If you have not received your confirmation booking email within 3 working days please contact moderation.team@trinitycollege.co.uk

When all centres booked on to the joint moderation date have confirmed their young people’s names, Arts Award will email a timetable for the day to the advisers. Each centre is allocated their own moderation time slot. The timetable will give the venue address / contact details.

Certificates will be sent within 4 weeks from your moderation date.
