About us:
Theatre Cap-a-Pie is a building based theatre company based in Dipton, County Durham. Working throughout the North East since 1995, Theatre Cap-a-Pie has always sought to engage children and young people through a diverse theatre and workshop programme, providing high quality arts experiences which are aimed at raising aspiration in audiences and participants alike.
Our Venue - The Store, also plays host to a programme of visiting theatre companies and musicians featuring local, national and international artists.
The company is always eager to find opportunities to work with partners both existing and new.
Our Mission:
Theatre Cap-a-Pie exists to create extraordinary theatre experiences that excite, challenge, and raise the aspirations of artists and audiences. We aim to nurture the creative impulse of artists of any age and at all stages of their development; to create an environment in which they can to do their best work.
We research and develop dynamic ways of working that blur the boundaries between the world of professional theatre and models of youth theatre. We aim to challenge assumptions and expectations about the participation of non professionals.
Cap-a-Pie seeks to place its work and find its inspiration within a national and international context; developing relationships and opportunities for the sharing of practise and product.
We investigate and apply theatre training techniques and practise in order to contribute to the debate about the role of theatre in developing healthy communities. Cap-a-Pie believes that creativity and creative expression are an essential part of any healthy lifestyle.
Cap-a-Pie’s venue, The Store, is an artistic and cultural resource which is vital to our work and to the communities we serve; a place where theatre is the centrepiece, celebrating who we are and what we can become, promoting a sense of well-being, belonging and community.
