BBC Blast 2008

< Return to news index

Blast is the BBC’s youth creativity service, inspiring young people aged 13–19 across the UK to get involved in new media, art, film, music, dance and more. Last year we engaged with over 150,000 people across the UK as part of Blast on Tour ‘07. A massive number of 13–19 year-olds were able to develop their creativity and confidence through innovative learning workshops, mentored sessions and showcase events.

Creative Traineeship, Work Experience and Young Reporters schemes to give any young people over 18yrs old an opportunity to complete a work placement with the BBC.

BBC Creative Traineeship

Blast has teamed up with Radio 1, 1Xtra, Switch and CBBC for the 2008 Creative Traineeships. The scheme offers 15 placements across a range of BBC host departments giving young people the opportunity to work alongside BBC events, online and production teams. Placements last between 8-12 weeks between May-Oct 08 and we’re looking for energy and ideas over media or academic experience. Creative Trainees will benefit from an extended in-depth placement working in a large media organisation and will be able to input creatively to production processes. Trainees are also offered the opportunity to complete their Silver Arts Award during the placement.

Deadline for applications 31st March 2008
